Right Light, Right Time, Right Place

After a resident shared a photo of the clock tower with only a couple of faces illuminated (and the time only correct once a year), LSS Electrical Ltd were instructed to take a look at the clock. Access to the tower was through a loft hatch in one of the apartments in St Edwards Hall. The engineer, James, reports that it was ‘remarkable to see the clock mechanism and very exciting’.

The time hadn’t been set on the clock for a few years so he was able to set about repairing this too whilst up there. He checked and lubricated the clock mechanism and set the time on the master clock, clock faces and set the automatic timer to British Summer Time. After looking at the illumination of the clock faces he found poor contact to the batten lamps. All 8 batten lamps and condensers were then replaced and voila – let there be light!

Directors Update – Maintenance

Play Parks – Castle have been trying to source the replacement parts for each park and they should be available in June. UPDATE: source found, awaiting delivery – 15 June 2022.

Garden Plus – the 12 month contract was started in April. The Board are now liaising monthly with Garden Plus to agree priorities. Grass, hedges and shrubs last fortnight. The next visit will cover grass and weed spraying. Let block@castle-estates.co.uk know if there are any areas that are being missed – please be friendly to the staff on the ground. UPDATE: 14.6.22

All – we have good news and bad news – the bad news is due to Garden Plus hitting a large metal spike that has been buried at grass height they are unable to continue with the bulk of the mowing because it has caused serious damage to their ride-on mower .

They will, however, continue to mow as much as possible with the smaller mowers. The good news – Dave has confirmed he will be spraying the paths tomorrow (15.6.22) to start killing the weeds and all other issues raised have been discussed and hopefully you all should start seeing some progress in the coming weeks/months. We are closely monitoring all the work conducted by Garden Plus and will be working with them to ensure everything is covered.

Wall Lane terrace and the path behind Willow Drive is still in discussion and will be dealt with as soon as possible. We thank you all for your patience on this we are all trying our best to resolve the issues raised. Many Thanks

Door Entry Systems – these are still being changed over and you should have had a letter from Castle to tell you your block date and new codes (for security reasons). UPDATE: These have mostly been completed bar 2 blocks.

Summer Houses – Chris and Suzanne met with a surveyor and builder on the 31st May to evaluate the work needed doing.
